I was looking to purchase a locker for my rearend. I found an Aussie Locker for the rear new in the packing, but he also has everything needed to regear the front and rear to 4.56, but its listed for a 2000 Wrangler with Dana 30 and 35s. I kow the locker will work, but I'm assuming the carriers are usable in my 1996 Cherokee without issue right? Also as I said, the gears that are included are 4.56. Is this a good ratio 33" tires? I currently run 31s, but would like to upgrade on the next set. This is not a daily driver but is not trailered either. It needs to be highway usable to get to my riding spots.
What are opinions of this swap? And will everything work?
Oh, and yes, I searched and found some information that looks positive, but I'm just tripled checking.

4.56 are a tad steep but not bad and you just got to make sure you have a dana 35 in the rear you may have a c8.25 i already made that mistake

Thanks guys. I'm sure I have a Dana 35 and the link was very helpful. Part numbers were the same so thats pretty definitive to me.
Thanks again. Looks good now I just need the guy to call me back...

Well, no matter how hard I research,...I ALWAYS get bit in the rear. The carrier seems to work, but the gears for the DANA 30 up front won't work. Its too late though, I already bought them. Its a low-pinion (TJ), high-pinion (XJ) DANA 30 issue. Figures....
Not really even sure how much of the rebuild kit that I bought will work either. I have a feeling its going to be next to impossible to sell just a front DANA 30 gear set in a 4.56.

Most do run a Dana 30, but my 96 XJ runs a high-pinion Dana 30 and the 2000 TJ runs the low pinion Dana 30 like the XJ of the same vintage. I think all the parts swap except,...you guessed it,...the ring and pinion.
Wow, in a complete surprise I contacted the manufacturer of the gearset Motive Gear to find out for sure if these parts would work and, without me even asking, they offered to swap out the parts that are not correct for the parts that are. That my friends is how customer service is done. I'm blown away!
Motive Gear! A great product and even better service.

Well, I need to reply back that Motive Gear seems to have decided to not help me after all. I haven't gotten any response from them since they initially told me they would swap them. A shame really. Went from their biggest fan, to kind of wishing they hadn't wasted my time...
Oh well, I guess that makes them just about average.
