Actually, I might kill for that jeep! I deliver newspapers and that would be perfect for the purpose! You might check near you for buyers and make a little money off the remains after you swap the axles. My boss has a RHD Subaru Forester that he used until the brakes went and he wrecked it.

Damn! That's not too far away. That would be a project for me because my 2000 XJ is very rusty with a great motor and 4wd. The problem right now is I have to get my 2000 WJ back on the road first because I can't tow with my XJ. If you decide to buy it for the rear axle, send me a PM and maybe we can work something out.

Yeah, stick your old axle in it and sell it. I may be thinking with my younger head anyway. They could stick a lunchbox locker in it and it would be just as good as it was.

Actually I think I was biting off more than I could chew, so to speak. I'd love to have it, but my physical condition ain't what it used to be. 20 years ago, I'd be driving down there with $300 cash in my hand, buy it, let you take the rear end as long as I could put yours in it. The frame on my XJ is sort of like swiss cheese, but the running gear is perfect. My axle ratio is 3.55 so I'd wind up with a 4wd RHD one-of-a-kind. Then I'd put a Lokka automatic locker in the rear end to make it even better. I have deep snow to deal with.
Actually that Lokka locker only costs $254 so you might think about that instead of swapping rear ends. The only critical part is getting the side gears shimmed right. The ring and pinion gears don't get disturbed at all. Check it out on "D&E in the Garage" on YouTube.

2wd would certainly hurt it but being right hand drive any rural area with rural post office routes it will sell in an instant if you can make it run well and it isn’t a complete rust bucket .

I would flip it. Market it better than what he did, easily quadruple your money.
I'd go to your areas local Post Office's, and ask to speak with the Post Master. I'd tell him you have a RHD Jeep, and ask him if he knows of anyone looking for a RHD Jeep.
If you need a rear axle, go here. www.car-part.com

Buy it. Plain and simple. Leave it together and clean it up and resell it, or use it yourself. The rear may be a trac lok, but with 130,000 miles it would probably have to be rebuilt anyway. Postal Jeeps are not easy to come by in good shape. Is there alot of rust on it? If there is very little rust, BUY IT!!!
