2000 cherokee wont start

Angry 2000 cherokee wont start

im jeep wont start i turn the key all dash lights and every thing come on just wont start not getting anything i hear a small little click from pass side like the relay is clicking but wont turn over but when i grab a screwdriver and jump the starter it fire right up HELP PLZ!!!!!!

i seen i few YouTube videos were they bypass the switch and add push button start is this a good idea

try that just now still nothing I turned the blower fan on high and when I turn the key it cuts the blower off like its post to so it wouldn't be the ignition right

sounds more like a battery issue

Yea it sounds like maybe an electrical issue. I would check the cable from the battery to the starter. Look at where the cable actually goes into the terminal at the battery post and also make sure there is no corrosion or loose connection on the starter.

If he jumped the battery terminal to the starter terminal with a screwdriver, the battery cable is most likely OK.

Suggest you search the forum for Neutral Safety Switch and read some of the threads...

Less likely, but also could be starter relay or the solenoid on starter (you can gently tap the solenoid to see if that temporarily fixes the problem...)

just replaced the starter 119 bucks down the drain same issue

Good way to tell if its your battery is the problem would be turn on the headlights and try to start it. If the lights go real dim when trying to start then you know it may be the battery, or then it again it could be that the starter is locked up.

so you diagnosed it or had it tested and it failed or you just took a shot in the dark it is a lot easier to type like this but it sure is a lot harder for the reader right
