Default 2000 Cherokee HVAC air flow failure

Hi guys,

My 2000 Jeep Cherokee (240,000 miles) has once again lost the ability to direct airflow from anywhere except the windshield. As I understand it, this is a default position for any failure in the airflow directional control system.

Last time it was a faulty directional control ****. Since these are no longer available new, I replaced the HVAC **** panel with another used one with no change in results. The replacement panel may have been also faulty.

Any suggestions that anyone has would be appreciated.

Any diagram showing vacuum components and hose routing would be most appreciated.

Links to previous discussions here on this topic will be appreciated.

Also, any suggestions for detailed repair/service manuals (including links) would be most appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

There's this thing called Google. It took about 5 seconds.....

But you get credit for wanting one.

Sounds like you've lost a vacuum somewhere in the HVAC control system. The question is where.

Outstanding! Best manual I have seen yet! Thanks!

Tell me more about this thing you call "Google."

You say it is on the internet? How would I access it? Is it a website?

Got er done!

Replaced the dreaded vacuum control dial. First used control set did not work, the second set was da bomb!

Thanks for sharing the PDF manual. It’s really useful right now, as I can’t find mine after moving. I prefer the PDF format because it’s easier to edit when needed. For example, with PDF Guru https://www.youtube.com/@PDFGuru you can add notes, which I find sometimes essential when working with manuals. By the way, this tool can also convert files to the format you need - something I’ve done a couple of times already, and it was pretty easy.
