Default 2000 Cherokee Classic - stalling out

I have a 2000 Cherokee Classic with the OEM installed alarm. There is a small light on the dash that flashes red - when you put the key in the ignition you have to wait until the light turns green before you turn the key to start - if you don't it won't allow the engine to turn over. When I put the key in the ignition and wait until the light turns green I turn the engine on, but it idles for a couple seconds then turns itself off. I will then turn the key completely off, and try a second time and the engine starts and continues to run without issue. This has been happening for awhile - I had the mechanic look at it, and he thinks there's something wrong with the alarm/computer. I've gotten used to it, until today when it died 4 times before it would finally keep running.

I'm just wondering if anyone else has had the same issue, and if so what you did to fix it - or if you have an idea what the problem might be. (I had the jeep tuned up, and everything seems to be fine. When the jeep is driving it runs great). I appreciate any help. Thanks
