2000 Cherokee air compressor issues!
Hi all, as you can see this is my first post, but i am in need of some jeep help and this is definitely the place to go! My jeep broke down this weekend. The air compressor seized. The air conditioning hasn't worked in over two years, so i really would hate to pay to fix the air compressor. I had a thought to just by-pass the air compressor with a custom serpentine belt. I know they don't make the belt, or at least i can't find it. But does anyone here know the length i would need to cover all the other pulleys? I have drawn a diagram and here is the site to see the picture of what i am looking for:

I would just go measure it on my jeep, but it broke down about 200 miles from Chicago (where i live) and i can't get back to it to measure it right now.
Can anyone help? will this work? if so, does ANYONE know the length at which i need to buy the new serpentine belt?
PLEASE HELP!
Brian

You'll need to find a a jeep at your favorite junkyard that has the proper bracket and pulley that were OEM for non-A/C rigs. Trying to re-route a shorter belt simply won't work.
Based on your discription, the bearing in the clutch assy. gave up the ghost. You can get a new one for under a hundred or grab a complete compressor at the junk yard for chicken scratch.

I agree change the compressor with a J/Y one and say that you will fix the A/C later if you like. Finding a GC without A/C is gonna be hard to do.
