hi group
i have a 2000 cherokee sport 4 liter that ran very hot I have since plumbed in a new water pump radiator and thermostat the overheating is fixed however
the engine service light is now on and the running is just a little rough
I am not sure of how severe the damage to the engine is it runs and is usable where and what should I start with to tune thise thing up
I have a 64 cj with the 192 perkins diesel and a 57 cj with a buick 6 stuffed in
these I understand somewhat but I`m pretty much still all wet with regards
to fuel injection any help or advice wiil be much appreciatedd

hate to ask. BUT how hot did it get??
poss head cracked? dont wana ruin your night but
its a possibility?

 

I think the top or head got pretty hot after a spike in the temp I replaced the thermostst and added coolent everything seemed ok at idle in my driveway I then drove about 15 miles the guage indicated 100 degree but noises (wrist pin ?) and smell made me pull over at that point the jeep shut off lift the hood smoke and steam everywhere turned the key back on the guage red lined to the max, tow home, repair

id put money on bad head gasket. or a cracked head.
