2000 4.0 idle problem

Default 2000 4.0 idle problem

Idles

above a 1k rpm sometimes, doesnt do it on cold start up.
Looking for ideas for what to check first

Look closely for vacuum hose and/or intake leaks. After the leaks are completely ruled out, look into the IAC to make sure the spindle moves freely. The reason you don't have the symptom at cold start is because there's extra fuel and air getting fed into the intake masking the leak.

Default high idle

manifold gaskets were shot. replaced them and all is well. didn't help my gas mileage much.
