Default 2 Way Remote Start

My Cherokee is a 2000 4WD Sport, automatic, and no chip key.

I'd like to install a remote start unit, and I'd like one with a 2 way pager. I've been looking at the Compustar CS4900-S and the Viper 4806V. My father will be installing it. He's been installing stuff and rewiring cars for over 50 years. He's never done a remote start, but after several Youtube videos, his final verdict is, "Oh, I've got this."

Anyone have experience with either of these? Or is there a better unit fit for the old girl? I'd like to stay under $150.

I've had a Viper alarm + remote start combo installed for 10 years now and it's been solid. The range is pretty impressive; I can be all the way at the back of a store or on the other side of the mall and it'll still start right up. My favorite is when I'm just getting to the top of a ski lift, starting it, and then having it be nice and toasty by the time I get back down the mountain to the parking lot. The only minor issue I've had is that sometimes the engine will shut off if I have the A/C running (locked while I take the keys with me into the store real quick). Probably just a blip in the RPM from the compressor load causing it to drop below operating parameters...I'm sure it's just a calibration setting so not a huge issue, just never bothered to mess with it.

I have the viper 5806v and I'd get it again. The battery in the fob doesn't last as long as I'd like, but everything else has been good.

This is the one I have and very happy with it, I installed it myself just by watching this video.
