Default 2-seater conversion?

I'm considering making my XJ a 2-seater...removing the back seat and putting in a platform of some sort to extend the cargo area, maybe putting in a raised platform sleeping area, with spare tire, tools, and storage underneath.
Has anybody here done anything like that, and have any advice/suggestions/warnings, etc. ?
Thanks!

Mine's a two seater part-time. You just release the catch on the hinge of the seat bottom and remove it. Fold down the back of the seat, and Bob's your uncle...... Two seater!!!

Thats exactly what i was gunna say, fold down the back seat, and you got a two seater and a larger flat cargo area.

yes
the only thing is you loose a small amount of length
because of the seat folds forward so the thickens of the seat is there in front but I just used that as part of my pillow

Default Rear seat removal.

I removed the rear seat from my 1989 2-door Cherokee years ago. I built a floor section that covers the seat area. It is hinged so it fits in the holes from the rear seat back. I also put locks on it so it will stay closed. It makes a great place to store things out of site.

That's why I said to remove the seat bottom. You don't have it keeping your front seats from sliding back further and you don't have to reach over it to get into the back while sitting in the front seat. You can keep some small items in the space where the seat bottom was, and the seat back covers them up so they are not visible from outside the jeep.

Could you take pictures and/or dimensions of the area you've gained?
I'm planning on buying but I'll need maximum cargo area.
