so i managed to blow up my tranny and tcase the other day going down the HW .... i got a 5speed out of a 93 already and a awd4(dont know the name of the TC?). and i was curios if i could swap in the np242 without mods to the tranny? and also if my jeep has 4.11 gearing do i have to get gearing for my new tranny to mach?

i found a thread on putting in the tranny on naxja.. this is gonna be fuuun

 

Should be able to if the trans came out of a 4wd jeep.
The ax15 is 23spline, and your 242 should be too, if it came from a 91+ AW4.

 

yeah i know i've put 231s from 5speed wranglers in auto cherokees and i've put 231s in place of 242s so i imagine they all are interchangable

 

uhhh and exactly how did you blow both units up in one shot??????????????
