he said it wasnt perfect blah blah , but said the front hood seemed like it was pushed up and them flattened back down. and the drivers door seems like it was taken off the car and repainted awhile ago . he said it was fine, and seemed quite honest, but that enough for me to say ... ehh i dont think so .

the guy who owns the white one is gonna call me back at 2 when he gets to the car to take a ton of pics. you guys got me worried about the towing package already installed. its a class 3 hitch ... did cherokees with TOWING PACKAGES from the factory have class 3 hitches? my thinking is that maybe the original owner bought it with the hitch installed and never used it for anything. . was wondering if i could tell if the hitch has been used or if theres a factory jeep brand hitch ?
getting it for 3200$ out the door is a good good deal . thats the kelly blue book price for FAIR condition.
i rerally dont need the XJ right now, and have a 94 camry right now thats leaking oil by the timing belt, but just found out itll only cost 300 for water pump , timing belt, and gasket to stop oil leak. thats not too bad. then that would bide me time till i find an even better XJ deal.. . what ya think? thanks guys !!!!

the whit one if it has a factory tow package it should have the better rerend in it
and so what if they towed with it jeeps are tuff and can handle it
if it has the factory tow it has extras that you wont like tranny cooler

look for rust that is one of the biggest problems

there was a class 3 hitch option from the factory as part of the tow package IIRC. A lot of folks around here use small SUVs to trailer 4 wheelers and jet skis, I wouldn't worry about it too much assuming the truck drives fine.

what i want to know then is what a tranny cooler looks like and what details will i notcie that will make me know it was a FACTORY tow package? most people have tow hitches on new SUVs (like my moms 4runner) and they dont even use them.

ok guys, heres some pics of the white one... see what ya think for 3200 bucks. he said it looks like the rocker panels might have been sprayed with rock guard or something to prevent rust. you can see the rust on the actual door in the back , but its on the inside. it looks like a 8.25 axle but hey im no expert.

tell em what you think. its about 45 min away from me to check it out. . . i do have the ability to hold off tho. 3200 is damn good tho , around here , this would go for roughly 4k .

I'll just throw my 2 cents in. I would say stay away from 99 model year. I know the heads had a tendency to crack pretty easy.

no go on either, the white ones engine was missfiring, and had dog hair all over it and smelled bad. . . these small dealers suck .

anyways, found a one owner XJ 97 sport with 150k , got her for 2grand. not too shabby. intereior excellent, and exterior is fine, but needs buffed and waxed. has about a half a dollar bill of rust on the rockers on each side. was thinking of putting that metal plate rocker sides from quaratec catalog.... who knows.

Sage advice. That's what helped me make a decision when I bought my XJ.

That black one looks EXACTLY like the on I broke down in on a test drive. It also had mismatched tires, lol. Only difference is the one I broke down in was a 2001 with only 84k miles.

i bought a whole different black one than the one above. boy would i have liked a moon roof like the one above... i guess its cus i had one with my old preludes when i was a teen, liked crackin em . the XJ has sooo many trim options, kind of silly.

but ya the one i got is in real good shape, but has a bit of rocker rust, oh well . im in the middle of the snow belt.
