Not a 2" bb, but 2" OME kit. I got exactly 2" out of it and i ran 31" tires on 4" backspaced steelies. They RUBBED like they were in love with my fenders.

I had to go up to 3.5" and still trim some to get them to fit.
You have an older model cherokee which can fit 31's easier than the newer models so you may have better luck than me.

Bad then, badder now
Thanks for the comments.
Yeah 1991 is the older xj that has slightly bigger fenders. You may be able to fit 31's in there. I've seen people fit 31's on that model with no lift but no off roading or it would rub but they fit. You should be able to. Maybe someone else will chime in.
BlueXJ ?

I have a 94 and to fit 31's on with my 3" lift, the only trimming I had to do was to the flares on the front wheelwells.

I am running 31x10.50 on steel wheels with a 3.75 backspacing.
I am currently awaiting the same rims with a 4.75 BS to pull the fronts in more.
I live in PA and state inspection requires tread to be covered by bodywork.
The rear area on the inside of the front w/w needs to be addressed as the inner well (plastic) is bumped out to make room for the inner rocker panel.
I lust trimmed the plastic and whacked the metal w/BFH.
But like with fuel economy...your mileage may vary. So will your XJ.
I have been a member here for awile now and have discovered that NO two Cherokees are alike.

Like Howler said, no two jeeps are alike so you will have to see how they fit to know for sure. You will probably have to trim the lower portion of the flares and if it rubs in the back, then you'll have to bumpstop it to keep it from coming in contact with the flares.
okay sweet sounds good, i think im gunna get 31" and if i have to trim the fender flares i wont care, im hoping to get rid of them soon anyways

I had a 2" BB with 31" x 10.5" and I need to trim about a quarter inch of each fender flare on the front. I did the rear flares just to keep it consistent. Some people also trim the front bumper caps with a line that follows the flares. I just removed mine.
