K I have a problem!
The cross member for the 4.0L automatic tranny out of the '89 jeep is about four or five inches farther back than on my '85 jeep with the 2.5L manual tranny. The bolt holes on the front of the cross member will match up with the rear bolt holes on my '85 but does anybody know how I can attach the rear bolt holes on the cross member to my frame?
I'm ready to go together with it and this is holding me up.
Help? Please

My jeep had 2 sets of holes for the crossmember! I went from a 4 speed to a 5 speed and had to mix and match parts from both xjs---Still ended up drilling new holes in one of the brackets between the rubber mount and the trans.... Get creative, i did not have to put an automatic in, but i'm sure given a little time and thought you will figure out a way. Keep after it !!!!! You will feel like you have installed V8 compared to the 2.5. I love mine and am glad that i took the time to do it.

Alright I will for sure figure something out. I have to have it done by the 28th at the very latest. My fiance and I are going out with her family on a jeep excursion. Wish me luck.
I will keep you posted on how it's comin along.

Alright it's finished! Front end, engine (shaved the head 21 thousands because my cousin had it so warped and new gaskets and seals throughout), tranny, transfer case, wiring harness, interior, fuel tank and lines, and all the trimmings! I love the engine. And it does excellent in 4-wheel.
The problem:I have been driving it for a little under a week now and have not had a single problem with it until NOW! I took my fiance out playin in the hills and came up to an obstacle that was about six inches of loose soil up a steep imbankment about fourty feet in length. I conquered it but had to race my way up it. Once at the top i lost dang near two gallons of coolant because it overheated.
Any ideas or suggestions as to why? I have my aux. fan wired to a toggle and didn't have it running. Had I had it running would this have prevented it?

how old is the radiator? I went with a 3 core right away, cause they tend to run hot!!!The only prob.i ran into was the water pump, but that was prob. due to age. Check your fan clutch as again the age of it is a contributing factor in the cooling system proformance. Glad to hear from you again, it is a very real learning experience isn't it !!!! Well worth the trouble... Congratulations---- You have now built your xj not bought it. Let us know how it goes J.C.
