Default 2.5 tdi cherokee with engine code 24

My cherokee got a check engine light yesterday and I have done the key trick and found 2 engine codes. 24 and 27 is what I have found they stand for 24= TPS problem but the problem with this is the vm diesel does not have a TPS. (atleast what I have found) 27= One injector does not respond to the controll signal. But this codes are for the 4.0 petrol version so I wonder if someone has a list for the diesel. Ideas how to fix the problem is also appriciated.

Thanks, but I can’t acces the page. Is it specified to the jeep cherokee or is it more of a general list?

The title is "Fault Codes for Detroit Diesel Series 60 Engines", so may or may not be relevant.

Probably not the same because I can't find that I have a fuel temperatur sensor. Thank you anyway, all ideas are welcome.

My XJ had the VM 2.5 tdi in it to begin with. I regret I didn't know about :
1. The various forums, where I could get help.
2. The need for an OBD code reader, and
3. The need for a Factory Service Manual.

What year is your Jeep? The 95 VM was OBDI but thereafter they were OBDII.

Look at this page. http://cruiser54.com/?page_id=365
For your information, you'll find the table of OBDII codes for 96-99 plus an explanation
of the system in chapter 25 of the one for 1999.

For some help from other VM owners, here is the Aussie forum :

I suggest you join the Aussie Jeep Forum

http://www.ausjeepoffroad.com/forum/vbindex.php

..search the index for the XJ list

There are many long term owners of XJ Diesels, one in particular, who has huge expertise

Thanks for all ideas, it's a 1996 modell but with obd 1. I have checked the aussieforum and found endless threads about the diesel, sadly not a good answer for what 24 and 27 codes stand for. I have tried to make a new thread but all it says is that I don't have premission. The page with files for each year has ofcourse a cap between the year 1995 and 1997, and the 95 file don't contain information about the diesel and the 97 has obd 2.
I tried today to connect a obd 2 reader but no contact, so the only option I see is to find a obd 1 reader that reads chrysler codes. Sadly the one I have borrowed before has been sold by the owner. But if someone have the abillity and knowledge to make a thread in the aussie forum I would appricaiate it.
