2.5 liter four
anyone have any expierence with 2.5 liter four cylinder in a 1995 Cherokee with a manual transmission? Mine seems to still pull hard but has acquired a slight knock/tap. It has 156,00 miles on it? I know its pretty hard to gauge the longevity of a engine but how well built are these engine? Known trouble spots in them? Possible longevity of them? any insights would be greatly appreciated.

Hmm... well knocks and taps are never a good thing, and could happen to any engine. My 2.5 in a 96 just crossed the 100,000 mile mark not too long ago, but I've had no issues as of yet. A member of my local club also has a 2.5 with the 35" tires and over 200,000 miles. It's definitely something you need to diagnose and have remedied as soon as possible to INSURE the longevity of that engine. They are reliable little work horses, and can run a long time.
