Default 2" or 3" lift?

Right now I'm sitting on a 2" lift, but my rear bushings are starting to go, so I was thinking of going up to a 3" lift. I hear that getting the extra inch would be too expensive to be worthwhile, but I'm planning on getting some shackles for my rear leaf springs and then a releasing sway bar. I'm kinda stuck here between choosing a new 3" lift (not an AAL, completely new springs) or staying with my current 2" lift. My 2" lift kit is about 15~20 years old, and I kinda want to replace it before then.

Any suggestions?

what all is your 2" lift made off?
3" will require aftermarket shocks and sway bar end links.
3" really should have adjustable control arms to set caster, a trackbar adjustment... either redrilling the stock mounting bracket, or an adjustable bar... and longer brake lines.
Typically on the older rigs, an SYE is not "needed".

In my opinion, tire selection (and/or armour) is going to be more benificial than 1" addition in lift.

Yeah it's my DD, I want to try to get some 3o" or 31" on there.
My 2" lift is an AAL kit with new front springs and shocks.

If you have a 2in AAL kit that is 15-20 years old. I doubt you still have a 2in lift lol. I would go with a new 3in lift with 30's.

nope three inches is a great beginner height...anything past 4" of lift you will start to run into more problems and more things you need for your XJ to be stable...

after that comes a releasing sway bar and rear shackles. I'll get new tires somewhere in there too.
