1999 XJ dead motor
I have been lurking for a while and was just starting to find stuff to do to my 99 XJ, and then I broke down and long story short, the mechanic says I need a new motor.
There is no compression on #3 and #5 and about 40psi on #2. I don't have the money or the mechanical ability to replace the motor.
Initially, I was going to pull the head and replace the gasket, but I need to just get rid of the jeep. So, my question is...
How much could I get for the jeep as a parts jeep. It has new tires with less than 2000 miles on them, interior is in good shape, except the headliner is out. Put a new battery, new front brakes and rotors, new PS pump. The mechanic also said the radiator is leaking and TS is shot, which caused the overheat that probably broke the motor.
I don't have any place to store the jeep to part it out. It's 4WD, Classic package.
I was thinking I might be able to get about $1000 out of it.
What does CF think?
Thanks,
Tim

picsss
for reference, I bought a running, and driving 97 xj for 375 and drove it home.
The list of issues it had are, bad nss, broken tail light, dented tail gate, dents, dings, brakes were rusty and crappy, but the lines were fine, some rust in the floors.
In my experience, they are worth more in parts than selling em whole. You could probabaly do 800 + in parts + scrap without much effort
