I think I would use regular crimp/shrink/seal butt connectors and stagger them if I were you.

Agreed. Butt connectors don't care about temperatures.

The ONLY reason people think butt connectors are not good is that most people use garbage components and tools, and don't know how to crimp. Get that seam parallel to the jaw opening and you'll have a bad crimp, even with the best tools.
