I've spent hours searching online and came up with nothing but suggestions to take the cover to an upholsterer. The side of my drivers seat is in bad shape, I'm curious to know if that part of the seat is real leather. The "seating area" is definitely leather but not nearly as soft and supple as my wife's Navigator. Wish I could just buy the bottom part and be done with it.

LOL and it never will be, apples to oranges here...and no the sides are vinyl not leather.. I have leather also and supple isn't even in the ballpark on this one, hard as a rock comes to mind...

I was on ebay the other night and came across these, this is pretty much the best I could find other than this place in Oklahoma that makes custom leather covers but you have to remove old leather and put these on and it runs around $500..

A bit more than you may like, for about $800 you can buy real leather upholstery for all your seats in the color you want. This is Katzkin which is pretty well known in the automotive world.

Of course there are fancy addition options, but you have to pay more.

Depending on the upholstery shop you get quotes at, this may or may not be more cost effective. It is for me as the lowest quote for me was to replace only the seat face and reuse the sides and back. That was going to cost more than this leather kit (albeit I'd have to install it myself. You could pay a shop to install it as well, but that's more $$). I'm planning on getting this for my Cherokee eventually.

the kits in oklahoma city are cheaper then that and they are real leather, forgot the name of the company atm but for my duramax crew cab it was $600 including the arm rests for the buckets.. you peel off old upholstery and put this on...

I would figure a jeep would be cheaper cause its smaller... They sent me a sample of colors I'll dig it out and post, but it was the cheapest I have found, and it turns out they're like 90mins from me so bonus..

Oh I wasn't saying the oaklahoma one's were not leather. I was just emphasizing that the katzkins were leather. Also, if you don't have the luxury of being without upholstered seats for however long it takes for them to make, katzkin has the patterns on file and you just wait for the finished product to arrive.

Oh and I mis-read a post earlier. I thought the ebay post WAS the oaklahoma shop. The katzins are real upholstery not covers to put on top of old upholstery. So they are NOT similar to the ebay listing.

I am cheap though, and I will probably look into this oaklahoma shop if you happen to post the info later.

I read in another post/thread that the '99 XJ Limited's heating elements were "built into" the leather seat cover. Something about it being carbon fiber and not coils and/or wires. I had my drivers seat out last week and peeled back the seat cover and all I saw was 2 thin blue wires connected to a thicker black wire. The connections were sealed in a wax-like substance and somewhat attached to the foam. The thin blue wires disappeared into the foam and the black wire went to the underside of the seat. Needless to say the heat on the seat doesn't work but the passenger seat does. Both High/Low heat switches on the center console work fine. And yes, I have searched and read every post regarding heated seats and how to fix them with no luck.

You know I was going to post that link, but for some reason on their site, the cherokee is not listed. However on the Katzkin reseller SAR (www.shopsar.com) does have a listing.
