Default 1999 Jeep Cherokee A/C fan problem HELP!

Went outside to wash my Jeep and I realized the A/C is blowing through the defroster area chilling the windshield. Cold air is coming out of both left & right vents, but only at the very top of the vents. NO air is blowing through the center vents. I can hear a "door" closing in the dash area when I turn the A/C on from the #1 setting to the #4 setting. Any suggestions as its already 84 degrees outside at 11 AM? Thank you in advance.

When you say #1 setting and #4 setting, are you referring to the fan speeds?

Edit: Generlly if the air only blows out of the defrost outlets there may be a vacuum leak in the engine bay vacuum plumbing.

Go to this thread and post #51 and then inspect the vacuum plumbing per the illustrations shown.

I found a vacuum line by the a/c hoses that was split. I sleeved it with a 1/8 vacuum line from Advanced Auto ($.87). A/C is now flowing from all vents as it should. Thank you for advice.
