Default 1999 Cherokee Noob Questions

Just bought this yesterday, so bear with me...a few questions:

- I noticed tonight the headlights don't actually turn off with the switch, them dim off after a few seconds. Do I have to live with that function? I don't really like it.
- The fog lights don't see to be working or responding to the fog switch. Is there a problem or am I missing something?
- There's an engine compartment light under the hood, how do you turn it on?
- I want to change out the rear diff fluid. What type is recommended? Does it require a lube pack? Should I just buy the fluid from a Jeep dealer to be safe?

Thanks

I believe the headlight thing is daytime running lights. The fog lights might be as simple as two bad bulbs, Gear oil is 75-90w, with limited slip additive if u have limited slip (most do not)

1. Shut the lights off before turning the ignition off.

2. 97-01 fog switches are known to be crap, test the bulbs, then the switch

3. It's a stupid design on the hood light, it should turn on when the hood is up, essentially the hood being tilted slides a little deal to make the connection, on mine it was all froze up and corroded, I ended up tossing it in the trash lol...still havnt cared enough to design a new light.

4. Out of the manual- Axles sae 75-90 or 75-140 synthetic for heavy duty/towing additive package is needed for a limited slip.

Fluid capacity depends upon axle type, the two axles available stock are a Dana 35 and a chrysler 8.25. Do a search on how to identify axles, you should find info readily available for that.
