Default 1999 Cheeroke Sport Overheating Issues

After reading these threads overheating seems to be a common problem. My problem is overheating while in slow traffic and idle. Replaced water pump and thermostat. Runs 195ish normally then 220+ in slow traffic and idle. Checked elect cooling fan and it comes on with a/c on but when turn a/c off it spins until stopping. Is this normal and could the fan be my problem.
Thanks

Yeah, the fan turns off but spins, as i understand it, it should stop very quickly, like 2-4 turns, but it spins then slows to a stop. hope that makes sense.

Sounds to me like the thermostat could be stuck open. 195 is too cool. Does it take a while to warm up? XJs normally get to operating temperature very quickly.

That's too long. I'd bet the thermostat is stuck open which is allowing the coolant to run through the radiator at speed all the time and not letting it cool down as it's suppose to. If nothing else it's a maintenance item that should be replaced periodically. Get a good quality thermostat and gasket. I'd suggest going to your dealer and getting Mopar parts.
