ok.... i have a 98 xj classic with the 4.0... the catch valve is ****ty n im loosin pressure if its sits for awhile.. im gonna change the whole assembly...pump,sending unit,etc,etc..
whats the best assembly for the $ ?? Bosch,Carter,etc,etc.... what seems to be the best brand to go with??

I have had a LOT of experience with XJ fuel pumps. You are doing the right thing by installing a complete assembly.
Here are my preferences.
1. Bosch (yes, they are expensive but well worth the extra coin in reliability/longevity).
2. Carter
3. Refer to choices 1 and 2.
OEM is a great choice, but what they charge is ridiculous. Therefore, search for aftermarket Bosch or Carter.
I will not install, nor will I recommend Airtex. Don't even get me started on that. Search if you want to research it.
