just a few general questions about the heat valve system.

I have a 3x '96 all with the valve

if the later models do not have it, does that mean coolant flows thru the heater core all the time ?

A fellow '96 guy has over heating problems

I have found one way to "temporarily" bring engine temp down (in any vehicle) is to have water flow through the heater core, (with fan on full blast for best results)

First question came to mind is your title. Does your vin# match to title? Is it "branded" , as in rebuilt or previously reported totalled. Next is to check your vin # for the 10th digit to verify the year, it should be a "w" if it is a 1998, if it is a "t" it is a 1996. Make sure you check the dash, doors and fenders for matching vin #'s.

That is correct. As long as your blend door is operating correctly, it does not bleed heat into the cabin. No problem in Phoenix weather according to several members.
