Default 1998 Jeep Cherokee Sport Radiator Leak Help

Hi all. I have a leak in my radiator right where the upper radiator hose plugs in. I was wondering if anyone knows if this is a single part, or part of the entire radiator which would mean a complete replace. Any advice on what I can do to fix it? Thanks for any replies!!! Also, I am certain it is not just a leak in the upper radiator hose, it is in the housing right where it plugs into (you can see green in the picture where it is leaking from). Thanks!!!

The only thing that hose goes to is the radiator. There's no special housing in between them. That tube the hose is clamped onto is the radiator, so if you know for sure it isn't the hose then it's definitely the radiator.

Replace the hose first just to be 110% certain. If it still ends up being the radiator then it is always recomended to replace the hoses at the same time and you will at least have that one covered.

Double check that the clamp is tight before you buy anything

Ok thanks guys. I am certain it is not a hose or a problem with the clamp because I opened the hood after driving her up to temp and coolant was bubbling out of the small crack on that housing. Might there be some type of high temp epoxy I could try to seal the hairline crack with? If not, how much should I expect to spend for a new radiator? Thanks guys!

rockauto has good oem replacements, and radiatorbarn has some nice upgrades and basic rads. Not worth trying to fix a plastic tank imo, you can get a rad with nothing special for under $100.

+1
Plastic radiators were never designed to be repaired. Good time to replace all the hoses, possibly the thermostat & water pump if it's been a while.

+1 on Rock auto OEM replacements. Super fast shipping, and parts virtually always work. Their return policy is pretty solid too, if there's ever an issue.

yep, those plastic tanks on the radiators don't last forever, the one on my '99 XJ we bought from the factory lasted about 11 years/140k. Probably not a crack, the crimp between the center aluminum section and plastic endtanks just fatigues and starts to leak...you'd have to take it all out to epoxy all around, doubtfull that would even work. Better off sucking it up and getting a new one.
Learn from my experience...if you put a thicker 3-core radiator in there, replace your motor & tranny mounts as they are probably shot too, and might launch the fan into your brand new radiator. Just saying...
