1998 jeep cherokee front differtial

can i have the front differtial un hooked and by passed and be able to drive it for a while untill i can get it repalced

its a 1998 grand cheorkee the front differentail is wasted gears and all

I'd take all the stuff out of the dif, remove the drive shaft. if the spiders/carrier is broke and you drive it, it will probably explode the case.
