Default 1998 A/C only cold on mild days

My 1998 XJ has me stumped. The A/C works fine on cooler mornings 70-80 degrees and the air coming out of the vents gets down to 35 degrees or so.By the afternoon when its 90 or so outside the vent air only gets down to 55 or so.What i hav done so far this past spring since the A/C wasnt working at was replaced the compressor, drier, and liquid line with the orfice tube in it with all new parts.I also installed a new evaporator while i had it apart puting in a new heater core.I then sucked down the whole system for about an hour..it was holding at -29 in/Hg of pressure. After I shut off the pump it had no leakdown over night..so i pretty sure the system is not leaking.I then add 20-24 oz of refrigerant and i added oil to the compressor prior to it being installed. As far as i know everything was done properly and should be working fine..Any help would be appreciated..Thanks

Did u use a/c flush in the manifold/hose assembly AND the condenser to remove old oil? Depending on how much oil was added to what amount of oil remained, u could have too much oil which will reduce cooling efficiency.

If you have manifold gauges, check pressures, maybe your electric fan is not turning on with the ac, or the clutch fan is going out. In higher temp that will force the high side pressure up and reduce cooling effitiancy.

i added the proper amount of oil..i forget how much now though..windows are tinted.i had everything reading propoerly on the manifolds gagues according to the relative hummidity outside and ambient temp/everything should be operating normal.someone said i may be missing the orfice tube but it is inside the new liquid line i replaced..hmmm
