Have a 1997 cherokee country. Is my daily driver have 31s and a 3 inch lft.... Runs great drives great, until I "floor" it and it kicks down 2 gears. It will not shift it will rev out until 4,000rpms and not shift and just stay at 4,000 until I let off. If it kicks down one gear it will do the same but at 3,500. If I just drive normal it will be completely fine and shift normal.... I know nothing about transmissions wondering if there's anything that I could try fixing or If this just sounds like my trannys going bad.... Check engine light is on but for bad o2 sensor. I've had many cherokees this one also doesn't feel like it has as much acceleration and power as any other one I've had. Like I said I'm completely unsure what to do

I would start with adjusting your TV cable, sometimes called a kickdown cable but on the AW4 it does a lot more than telling the tranny when to kickdown.

It will take you 2 minutes and might solve some of the issues for you. Here's a quick video I found on youtube. The guy on the video calls it "shift linkage" but it not. He's adjusting the TV cable.
