Replace cam/crank sensor if you didn't get it from Jeep.

Also i was wondering if an engine out of a 1989 Cherokee xj will fit in my 1997 because i have an 89 that the tranny is bad in but the motor was fine i know that all the sensors are different and would have to swap them onto the donor motor but other than that will it work? Im just wondering so i know weather or not to keep it as a spare

I can't say from personal experience, but I have seen quite a lot of posts over the years saying that only Jeep seems to have the quality part we need for a CPS.

How are your plugs and wires?

plugs are only a couple months old wires are a little older but are the heavy duty ones not just stock i didn't have a problem with a misfire untill it died that day. I should also make sure i didn't get one tooth off on the distributor when i installed it but the finger seemed to line right up to just a little bit past the #1 spot on the distributor on TDC

So I changed out the crank sensor with a mopar part now it's running alright. No more non mopar sensors for me! I also made a removable pannel for accessing the crank sensor so it won't be so hard to get at in the future. It makes the replacement a lot more easy.

Hopefully you'll get 10 or more years out of the new one...
Aftermarket is just crap for this application..

Some how i think that the coil voltage back fed to the computer because when my distributor broke it took the coil and computer out now all of it has been replaced and a new crank sensor
