Default 1997 cherokee codes HELP?!?!?

My '97 is throwing three codes at me. The codes are 12,17,43. Can anyone please try to help me out on what needs fixing? I just installed a new battery a few weeks ago, and put in new plugs, wires, and cap and rotor.

First question is do you have any symptoms to go along with the codes?

Your two digit codes will give you limited information. Much better to get a scan tool or a code reader and retrieve the full PXXXX code. That will get you more specific information.

Code 12 is "Battery input to PCM disconnected during last 50 key starts." Have you disconnected the battery lately? If so, then you would expect the code 12. If you are not disconnecting the battery, then something else is causing an interruption of power to the PCM. This is what you would need to investigate; possibly a bad connection or interrupted circuit.

Code 17 is low engine temperature. Engine coolant temperature remains below normal operating temperature possible thermostat problem. What is the coolant temp gauge reading with a hot engine?

Code 43 is ignition coil #1, 2 or 3 primary circuits. Peak primary was not achieved withing the maximum allowable dwell time. Start by testing your ignition coil. They can be tested for both primary and secondary resistances with a manual and a meter.
