Are these things normally so loud? On the "2" position, it's annoying. On "3" its irritating and "4" is just unbearable.
So here's what I know. My heat is poor honestly. I'm going to try the core flush first but if that does not produce results I"ll be tearing the dash apart and have a better look at what's going on in there.
Secondly, my selector seems to be confused, I.E. I have air pretty much coming out of everywhere, but mostly defrost (windshield) on all settings. Set on "floor" it attempts to switch, reducing the flow to the def but not really directing it to the floor all that well. I do know about the vacuum collector ball on the bumper and the input is loose and I'll be correcting that today.
Also, this thing did spend about 2 years in a farm field being started and moved on average once a month give or take, so finding stuck parts, or a vacated summer cottage for critters is possible, if not likely.
So my question is, I suppose, are they always so loud and if not, is there a known fix, mod, or upgrade/swap to help alleviate it? And, and are they equipped with cabin filters by any chance?
According to the VIN I have an SE, and I can tell you it has zero options except A/C, and is apparently an upcountry fitted Jeep. If that makes any difference.
Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

These vehicles are generally electrical system nightmares. You may want to pick up an FSM at your earliest convenience.

So, if I'm to replace the blower motor, I may as well skip the flush and go ahead and swap in a new heater core then, correct?
Thank you for the reply btw.
Just had the same issue with a really loud blower motor. Had a bunch insulation stuck in the fins of the blower fan. Drop the glove box. Put the selector on recycle interior air that should open the front of the heater box and you should be able to see the blower motor fan.
