Will a stock 4.0L XJ take a late year model '99 intake without needing modification? I'm looking at one for a great price, very stock, but was really looking for a '99 for the improved intake and high pinion diff.
Any reason to steer away from a '96? It's a 5spd, no power locks or windows, SE model I believe.
Thanks, Tony

96 is a good year. As for the intake, you will need to grind the 6th runner of the exhaust manifold to get it to fit properly. You also need to extend the vacuum hose of the rear CCV orfice to reach the intake manifold. Also, you need to reroute the IAT, which would just require some longer wiring. I believe that would cover it. Many people have done it and is pretty straight forward.
No reason to steer away from that 1996 at all espacially if it is a 5-speed! I have a 97 and wish i would have got the 94 i was after at first, for the simplictiy of wiring and emissions BS... Go for it!

Thanks for the advice, I'm definitely looking for something I can work on again myself. I was going to do a tune-up on my 2006 Expedition and I think I'm going to have to get a Master's just to change the plugs!
