Hi everyone. I have a cherokee 1996 pre facelift, drivers windows don't work. I've tried new and second hand motors, both not working, but they work when you just plug them into other doors.
I have cleaned and rewired the plug connectors on the motor and the plug for the motor. Any other thoughts?

check the wires feeding into the cab. My windows would only work sometimes, and i found that in between the door the the cab, the wires had broken, and were just randomly making a connection inside the harnes. i reconnected all the wires, and now all of my windows work great.

Ive switched the switches around, still dont work, think the wires between the door and cab idea is first port of call I think

Had a problem with my driver window not working, rolled it down and it wouldn't go back up. I put direct power to the window motor and it worked fine. It did this to me twice, figured out when i roll the window down completely it won't go back up. If I roll it down to the point just before it bottoms out,( were talking the difference of a quarter inch), it works fine. Anyway Im pretty sure it's the window regulator, which I think are about 150 dollars give or take. It's a common problem with all older vehicles, these regulators just wear out and cause problems.
