1996 jeep cherokee heat problem

1996 jeep cherokee heat problem
Whenever I turn my heat on in my 1996 jeep cherokee, heat only comes out of the vent by the side of the gas pedal. There is no heat coming out of the dash board vents. Whenever I use the air Conditioning the dashboard vents work fine. What could be the problem?
