Default 1996 Jeep Cherokee Classic Signal Problem

I am new too these forums and hope i am in the right section.
I have a 1996 Jeep Cherokee Classic and i just had a motor rebuilt and put in.
Now my Left rear turn signal when turned on, my brake lights flash with it.
When i step on the brake all the lights freeze up. When i turn on right turn signal it works fine. Backup lights work running lights work. And 4 ways work.
Only problem i have is when left turn signal is on Left Brake/Center Brake and Right Brake light flash with it.
Ive taken out the left turn bulbs to see if the brake lights stop flashing it doesnt fix the problem.
Now Ive realized that my amber lights come on when i step on the brake light aswell.

Any ideas would be appreciated

Again Thanks
Wally

It sounds like you've got a major short to ground issue. The current may be feeding back into other circuits through their grounds, or two or more wires may have been smashed together, not enough to blow a fuse but just enough to route some of the current into another circuit. Check every wire that could have been mashed during the engine removal/install.

Search multifunction switch. It's jeep's name for the turn signal switch. I had the same issue when i trued to turn left. All of my lights would blink like i had the hazards on. What was happening was the switch was shorting out and voltage was jumping from the turn circuit to the hazard circuit in the switch. The good news is you can take it apart and clean it. Unless you want to spend between 100-200 dollars for a new one. Google jeep multifunctional switch or search the forum. Hope this helps.

I went back to the guy that rebuilt my motor. He helped me track down the problem.
Even when i pushed the brake on the rear flashers would go on with the brakes. Both.
He said it was odd because the front flashers were working fine. We came to the conclusion that it was the turn signal switch on the steering column. And he priced for me and just before i was going to leave and buy it. He said dont you pull a boat. Do you have trailer light hookup I said yes. He said lets disconnect that, take it out of the loop and see. It worked. Now my lights are all working fine. The stupid T trailer connector was bad. I did disconnect it here at the house and saw no corrosion and seemed fine but reconnected it and never tried it with it disconnected. Lord the things we have to go through in life LOL
