Default '96 pump availability

I went to Pep boys and according to their service manager they do not offer the pump assembly. According to 'ANTIMULLET' the pump is available at 'JeepPartsGuy.com'. I have ordered one and will let you know if it fits. This looks promising.

I'm going to install my "Fuel Module Assembly" today. The fpr that's on it is encased in plastic so it does look unique to this setup. I'll take some pics and post them up later. Mine cost 280 and change shipped from the oconee folks.

Install went without a hitch took a half hour and a little wiggling to get the assembly to seat nicely but overall no big deal- No need to drop the tank on a 96 the opening is on the side. Plenty of room to do the job with or without jacking it up.
New assembly starts up first turn all the time- Much less noisy also- I suspect my pump was on the way out also. Diagnosis was definitely my fpr check valve not holding pressure on the fuel rail...

The fuel gauge is intermittent on my 96 - will I be looking for the whole assembly as well or are the senders interchangeable with another year?
Thanks....

I'm aware, he was asking if he could swap in a 97+ fuel pump...from my understanding that should work as long as he also swaps a fuel rail with the FPR attached from a 97/98/99 XJ right?

I just replaced my fuel pump and the regulator on my 96. I got both a replacement pump and fuel pressure regulator from AutoZone. I couldn't find the entire assembly either. The regulator can be replaced by taking apart the top of the plastic assembly once you remove it from the tank. It was a PITA but it went back together fine. It took my less than an hour to take apart, and put back together. Good luck!

Default My Jeep is running

Well i got a pump assembly from Jeep Parts Guy. $280 for a rebuilt unit. It's easy to replace. The hardest part was changing the fuel filter.

My Cherokee is now running fine. Thanks to everyone who participated in this thread.
