thank you for the information. we will see what we can find to work based off of this. sounds like we need to drain and put new fluid again as well. i appreciate the info.

I had the exact same problem in my chevrolet impala I am not sure this will help you since we are not talking about the same car.
For me it was the TPS (throttle position sensor) that was the issue, I tested it with a voltage meter. I think you have the same issue here as well, and there are instructions floating around the forum on how to test it. Also, from what read, if it is indeed the TPS then you should only get a mopar replacement because people were not to successful with aftermarket TPS on our XJ's.

thank you. i read it yesterday. we were planning to do another flush of the fluid so i'll make sure to look at your steps on this. we ara gonna give it another go this weekend and look into the suggestions we see. thank you again

BTW, have you done the kickdown cable adjustment? Not sure it's your problem, but it's free and easy to do.

That button might not move as easily as in this video. If not, hit it liberally with some penetrating oil, and move it move it move it until it moves freely.
