1996 cherokee SE missfire, back fire,
Ok, I've got a 1996 jeep Cherokee SE. when you first start it and the motors cold, it will run fine as long as you don't give it too much gas, if you give it too much gas it will miss and backfire, stay out of the the throttle, and it will go Jus fine. It will run fine like that as long as you don't cut it off....when you cut it off and go to start it back up, it will miss and backfire through the intake. If you bleed the pressure off of the fuel rail, it will blow air/gas, do it several times until there's strait gas, and it fire back up and run, as long as you don't give it to much gas. I have replaced and done the following: replaced MAP sensor, throttle positioning sensor, and idle air intake valve. (None of them made and difference) I gutted the catalytic converter, this fixed the majority of the problem...before that it wudnt even run without cutting off. Aftger that I was test drvng and I brought it home...cut it off and waited five minutes. Went to start it again and it was not getting any fire, what so ever. It was dark but I opens the hood and had someone turn it over. Every plug and the distributor was throwing spark from everywhere. So I replaced the plugs and plugwires. That fixed thatc problem...but it still will not run if you try starting it while its warm. Bleed the pressure off the fuel rail, turn the pump on and repeat till I get strait. Gas, and it will start up and run to my next destination. I love this jeep to death but it has my stumped. Any ideas? I've also replaceed the fuel pump and fuel filter. Thanks
