Attached is the printout the dealership gave me, with the updated part number handwritten below the canister. They couldn't locate the discontinued part, but at least they were nice enough to give me an updated part number.

Why do you need a new cannister?

It appears the hoses had been un-attaced quite some time ago, likely to solve an issue with the canister. Why else would someone go though that trouble of removing hoses at the canister and the fuel tank? I guess I could re-connect as an experiment, but it runs well now. Just trying to avoid any more cans-of-worms at this point.

They dont typically go bad. Unless they've been flooded with raw gas (this is why you dont "top off" your tank)

From your previous photos it iust looks like like the hoses rotted out. Id hook up the existing cannister unless its obviously broken and roll with it. As you noted there are no new production units so your options are limited.

Where does the line from the gas tank connect to the cannister? The top middle connection on the canniater goes to the intake manifold, the connection under that goes to the fresh air intake, and what looks like a possible connection under that has an external black cap. And the possible connection to the left has an internal black cap.
