1995 Grand Cherokee oil leak
Have a 1995 Grand Cherokee with about 178,000 miles on it. Had an oil leak so brought it to the shop-they had it for a couple weeks and fixed the following: valve cover gasket, oil pan gasket, timing cover had a hole, oil filter, new serpentine belt. Almost $800 later, I picked it up and took it on a trip of about 400 miles roundtrip. Was running great in the beginning, but by the time I got home, it was smoking from all the oil leaking out. Lost about a quart of oil. Not sure what to do at this point? Shop cannot even take it back in for another week. I am not knowledgeable about any of this. Is it fair to be charged $800 to fix an oil leak when it obviously is not fixed?

Well, if it was not leaking when it rolled out and they cleaned it up and test run it, then yes, they did their best. If they didn't then maybe they are shady about it, it's almost impossible to tell over then net. I mean heck maybe they thought they repaired everything, and low and behold they got something wrong but it slipped by them. I would clean it up and try to find where it's coming from a couple dollars at the vehicle wash will do wonders...
