Tightening that screw with the jam nut will not do much. Taking the gear box out and setting the end play in the worm will do more, along with the screw with the jam nut..
The service manual shows the procedure.....

My 94 does the same thing, but I have already replaced most of the front end. The front wheels seem to "wonder" on the road while going straight until something catches when going in a curve. The silly thing is, after you drive a few miles, everything seems to tighten up. Could this just be the steering shaft u joints bad? Also, there is a sort of "grinding plastic" sound in the steering wheel as you turn it through the "play" till it start to move the wheels. Sorry to be longwinded. Thanks in advance for any suggestions...also, steering gear box was replaced as well as ball joints, tie rod ends and power steering pump. I did not replace track bar.

I have lots of play in the steering box. From underneath, I can turn it - seems loose. But it does tighten up after I drive. Or as you say curves, etc. If I back up and turn steering CW, step on brakes, I can tighten it up sooner. So What is happening?
Was my video able to play? Basically, I can grab the tie rod end and twist it. Its not super tight. And it is not real loose either. I am thinking because it's a ball type end joint, it should twist. But how much?
If the video doesn't play, how do I get it to post?
Thanks
