my son's 4x4 suddenly stopped working. When he tries to shift into 4x4, nothing happens. What could it be?

 

Does it make any sounds? do the part time / full time lights come on?

 

edit: Nevermind, you caught what he meant!

 

Ya I gathered that after I re-read it. (edit)

 

he said that when the shifter goes thru the floorboard... and hooks to the linkage that hooks to the transfer case... that linkage flips out and just hanging... He put it back in and it works again... what can he do to keep the linkage in place?

 

get a new set of bushings for the linkage youl have to go the stealership but that should fix your problem
