1993 Jeep Cherokee Slave Cylinder.
Hello, my brother-in-law just bought a 93' Jeep Cherokee Sport and it has a busted Slave Cylinder. My brother-in-law is a good shade tree mechanic, but this is the first time he will be changing a slave cylinder. He has however, dropped a transmission in a vehicle before.....so I guess we are half way there. I just wondered if anyone could give any tips about the job. Is it difficult? How long does the job typically take? And any other tips would much much appreciated. Thanks a lot.

Shouldn't take more than an hour, maybe 2 for you rfirst time. I just solo dropped mine this morning in an hour with hand tools.
Just pop the crossmember off, use your jack on the flat spot on the trans, it is the center of weight. Lower transmission down so you can see top 2 bolts, and base up your engine (that now wants to fall) use a 10mm 6-point socket and a lot of extensions to remove the two top (E) bolts.
Help him separate it from the engine, it is wobbly without a transmission jack, and I've had that assembly fall on me enough to tell you it's not fun lol.
And the slave should have specific instructions for the actual install.

Support engine and transmission before you touch the crossmember, and work your way into having the transmission on the specified flat spot.
Be very careful titling the engine, preferably you don't have to if you've a second pair of hands, use a universal at the end of your extensions to break those bolts loose.(and have somebody get the socket on the bolt heads)
