1993 Grand Cherokee turn signal Problem.
I have a 1993 Grand Cherokee, and I keep getting a rear lamp failure message. My turn signals don't work, but hazards do. When I replaced the flasher unit, they worked for about ten seconds, and then stopped working again. Any help would be greatly appreciated. All lights are working ( i.e. breaks, running, top mount break) Just not any of my turn signals. no blown fuses.

Do they even light up? You may need a turn signal switch if you have nothing at the turn signals, but have hazards.
Thank you for not calling them blinkers.

Lol, that's hilarious. when I replaced the flasher unit, I had the turn signal arrows lighting up, and making the click noise it makes, and the turn signals were working. But now, its back to nothing but hazards. I think there might be a short somewhere, but I haven't been able to find one without getting my snorkel and diving in. Connector pins on the multi function switch all have the right continuity in the right positions, but nothing works.

Got all of my turn signals running. There was a short from the flasher relay (on the convenience center) To the multifunction switch. All lights on the jeep work, but my little display console still shows rear lamp failure. Is there a way to check errors in the memory and possibly clear any errors? all wiring is sound and secure, and everything works, but the error won't go away.

Double check the rear brake lamps(bulbs) It is important that they be the same part number because of the voltage/ampherage differences. They should also be the same age. The reason is that the warning system looks at the amps used while the brake lights are "on" and compares to a current/amp value stored in the BCM (body control module) If the value is above or below what the actual reading is when the lights are on the warning system will tell you that you have "lamp failure"
