Default 1993 Cherokee sport wont turn over

Got a bit of a problem. After being parked for about a month my jeep won't turn over. Battery is good, never had any problem with the starter, seems to me to be a relay or fuse, but I can not find a bad one.

When I turn the key into the on position everything powers up like normal with the exception of the RPM reads 900 rpm. I turn the key and not a sound. Any cheap suggestions? I need to get running to sell. She's a good old jeep and I want to keep her alive.

Thanks

I will check out the nss forum. Does that make the rpm show when the car is not running?

i have an 89 at the shop that won't start unless i play with the shifter. move it around the park position a bit as you're holding the key to start.

I have a similar problem. It would start in neutral but not park. I pulled the nss and cleaned it out with electronic cleaner and sanded the connections. Put dielectric compound on it and put it back together. It fired right up in park on the first try. Now I can't get it to start in neutral or park. Replace the nss or check something else? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Proper "adjustment" of the NSS is very important.

Here is the best link I've found on refurbishing the NSS.

I guess I thought that there wasn't any room for adjustment. I put it in reverse and put the arm where the r lights came on. Then mounted it. Does that mounting bolt have multiple mounting positions?

It was the starter... The oil filter housing o ring went bad and it leaked into the starter and fried it. My NSS switch rebuild was successful
