1991 Cherokee shifting issues
My 1991 Cherokee is having shifting issues. When I bought it the jeep didn't shift at all, I replaced the tps right away knowing this could be the problem. The jeep shifted flawlessly, but is now acting up periodically. Sometimes it seems as if its starting out in 2nd, other times it wont shift out of first on take off. Checked the speed sensor on the transfer case, it was only finger tight! It looked clean should I replace it either way? What do you guys think this could be? Thanks,

sounds like you have the same problem as mine. If your speedometer is working your speed sensor is probably also working so i wouldn't worry about that. my jeep is on its 3rd TCU... thinking about putting a 4th in, but i am starting to think maybe its another problem. If you already replaced tps, try unplugging the TCU (the little metal box under the passenger side dash) and shift it manually. As far as i have found out so far if it shifts ok after doing that (keeping in mind it will skip 2nd gear) you need a new tcu. I got my last one at a junkyard for $30.
