Mornin y'all I need some help. I have a 1990 Cherokee Lerado. went to go to work this morning and no headlights. I had to use the roof lights . got home and checked all the interior fuses and all good. I attached a pic of the only thing that looks like a fuse bok under the hood. there's suppose to be a fuse box next to the battery but thats all there is. any idea why my headlights don't work? genedelong443@gmail.com
Preciate y'all.
The headlight switch melting down is a pretty common failure if you haven't done a headlight upgrade harness. There are no fuses under the hood on a 1990, just a bunch of fusible links coming off the starter relay. Have a look at http://cruiser54.com/?p=35, and all his other great tips for the older Renix Jeeps.
I don't know the wiring of the older XJs, but you should be able to download the FSM (Field Service Manual, the actual shop manual) at Cruiser's site which Lawson linked, or at xjjeeps.com.

You will not find a fuse block next to the battery nor anywhere under the hood. There are fusible links however. If you have 12+ at one side of the circuit breaker that looks like a big fuse on the side of the fuse block under the dash, than the link is good.
