Saw a beauty of a Jeep - 1990 XJ/Cherokee/Wagoneer with 43,000 original miles! It's white with the classy woodgrain panels, all power, leather, and Garage kept. I've inquired and found the following:
New Battery, May 2011
New Front/Rear shocks, November 2010
Water Pump, Coolant Resevoir, March 2010
Tires were bought in 2005, but only 2600 miles on them!!
It was a grandmother's grocery getter and garage-kept.
HOW MUCH SHOULD I OFFER??? And what should I be concerned with in terms of buying a older car with low miles?? (i.e. hoses rotting, etc)
And also, is it really worth getting rid of my '99 XJ for a jeep that is 9 years older but has almost 100,000 fewer miles??
Damn this is tempting.

That sounds like a dream truck. But since you already have a 99, stick with that.
I love my 90', but it did have it's short falls. Such as the closed cooling system, and lack of any real obd system. Low mileage shouldn't be a huge concern. Most simple rubber products would be easily replaceable, and I'd be curious if the R-12 system was converted or not. Outside of that, I'd be willing to be you'd start having random seal leaks with regular use, again, no huge hard to find deal.
I'd say 2k-2,500 would be fair. 3k tops.

Go to Kelly Blue Book and price it out as a private sale....only goes back to 1991, but you'll get an idea.

Used vehicle prices have risen dramatically over the past few years.

Would you believe they are asking $5700
Funny thing is, I'll bet somebody over pays them. If it is still there and they're motivated to sell it for less than what I can sell mine for, then I might consider it.
I'll dig it up, but did these even come with airbags?? Other "standard" stuff that I might not even think about??

According to Kelly Blue Book the suggested retail for a '91 would be $5065 so they're way over priced. They can ASK anything they want, but its only worth what someone will pay.
'96 had a driver's airbag, but I'm not sure that '95 did. Keep in mind its a RENIX so not even OBDI. '96 is the first of OBDII.

You guys do realize some things appreciate in value right?
Looked at a clean CJ7 or Scrambler lately? How about an older Land Cruiser?
As rigs get older and harder to find, espescially in clean condition with low original mileage they tend to appreciate. The rarer they are the quicker this appreciation comes into effect.
I'm not saying it's worth asking price, but dont consider KBB or other value guides as the bible...

The only real problem I've had is the fuel pump going out and some really funky wiring left from the p.o.
