Try adjusting detent cable yet. And remember its a Renix not a Ho. Torque is more important than power.

Test the Trans side of your TPS using Tip 8.

Ok, think we're getting it narrowed down. I adjusted the tv cable and that helped the Trans shift better. I'll do the TPS next. I've got good power right at tip in and decent at hi rpm, but at mid range it feels lean. Kinda like it's fluttering, no misses or anything, just stuttering or starving for fuel. Really notice it when trying to get out into traffic or climbing even a small grade. The injectors helped in the bottom and top end, but did little for my mid range power. O2 sensor maybe? Or tps?

What gear selection do you drive in ? I drive my '90 in "3rd" below 50mph, anything over 50mph I am in "D". It is a dog in "D" just driving around town, and feels like its hunting for that 4th gear around 35mph. I am about the same mileage as you, a little more.

I know some that can use other spark plugs but mine likes stock champion only, I've tried a few over the years.

I'm suspicious of the TPS.

I'll definitely do the tps check next. I think I have champions in there now. I might try NGK's next. Isn't that what you use Cruiser? It's not a gearing problem cause when I went from 3.55's to 4.88's the power didn't really change.

Checked the tps today. It's perfect on the engine side, reference = 4.90, output .83 (4.90x.17=.83) Trans side is a bit off. Reference 4.72, output 3.74.
(S/b 4.72x.83=3.92). So if I adjust the Trans side it throws off the engine side. Do I need a new tps?

No. Engine side setting always trumps Trans side.

Fuel pressure isn't running low while driving is it?

Sorry this took so long. Finally got the chance to check my running fuel pressure. At no load, hi vacuum, the lowest I saw was 29psi but only for a second. Highest was 40-41psi under load. Looks ok to me unless I'm missing something? I did get a good description from the wife of the problem, she said it just feels like it doesn't want to go! Might try NGK's next.

So, put the NGK's in today. Again, it helped a bit. Definitely 5 cyl power now. My old plugs were still in good shape and all looked the same.

Champion RC12YC plugs. Think I'm about done on this quest. I will build a new down pipe when I get the chance and will report on the results here. If anyone else has any suggestions, please let me know but I may be asking to much of a 315k engine. Maybe I'll have to do a stroker in the future...
